Professor Scott Evans became the 44th President of the Society for Clinical Trials in May 2024. The Society for Clinical Trials is a scientific, educational, and charitable organization established to work internationally to advance human health by advocating the use of clinical trials, leading the development and dissemination of optimal methods and practices in clinical trials, and educating and developing clinical trial professionals.
Professor Evans, Director of the Biostatistics Center and Founding Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Milken Institute SPH, joins a distinguished list of past presidents that includes prominent figures such as Bob Temple, Thomas Chalmers, Lawrence Friedman, William Friedewald, Curt Furberg, Stuart Pocock, Dave DeMets, Susan Ellenberg, Janet Wittes, Paul Meier, John Lachin, and Barbara Hawkins. Professor Evans was inducted at the Society’s annual meeting May 19-22, 2024, in Boston, MA. His leadership marks a continuation of the Society's dedication to enhancing the quality and exchange of knowledge concerning the design and implementation of clinical trials and research utilizing comparable methodologies.
